‘WC’ Selected For 2007 Montreal World Film Festival

Writer/director Liam O’Mochain’s second feature ‘WC’ is set to screen at the 2007 Montreal World Film Festival, which runs from August 23rd – September 3rd. The film will screen as part of Montreal’s ‘Focus on World Cinema’ strand.

‘WC’ is set in and around the toilets of a Dublin Jazz bar, following a day and in the life of two toilet attendants, Jack and Katya. The film follows the pair’s blossoming friendship, formed in the most unlikely of settings. Described by the director as a “social drama”, the film examines racism, social integration, sex trafficking and low paid workers in an every day setting.

‘WC’ filmed for 18 days from March-November 2005, with post-production taking place in 2006 and completed in January 2007. O’Mochain has assembled a strong supporting cast that includes Adam Goodwin (The Tudors), Karl Shiels (Intermission, Veronica Guerin), Mary Murray (The Magdalene Sisters, Adam and Paul) and Eamonn Hunt (Lassie, Inside I’m Dancing)

The crew on ‘WC’ includes DOP Mark Waldron (Once, Bachelors Walk), costume designer Allison Byrne (Legend, Song For A Raggy Boy), composer Richie Buckley (The General, ‘Goldfish Memory) and co-producers Michael Wechsler and Terry Keefe (Slaves of Hollywood).

Limerick-born O’Mochain’s award-winning debut feature film ‘The Book That Wrote Itself’, released in 2000, featured cameos from George Clooney, Kenneth Branagh, and Melanie Griffith amongst others.
