The 45th Shark Awards, and the Promo Shark Awards, are set to run in Kinsale from the 6 – 8 September 2007. The awards and festival promise a feeding frenzy of advertising creatives, broadcasting executives and film production companies coming together for workshops, seminars and the Shark Award ceremonies.

Keynote speaker for the 45th Shark Awards is Phil Rosenthal (creator, writer and executive producer of hit TV show ‘ Everybody Loves Raymond ’). Also high on this year’s Shark agenda is the “ Do You Have a Future in This Business? Come Meet the People who are Taking your Job” seminar, taking place on Friday 7 September. This seminar will concentrate on the methods being used to directly influence content of TV, Film, or the Web and bypass traditional advertising.
Speakers for other Shark discussion panels also include Patrick Collister (UK copyrighting legend and CEO of Creative Matters); Charles Garland (formerly of 19 Management); Bartle Bogle Hegarty; David Pugh-Jones ( Strategy Director for Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions); David Muir (new business director of Ogilvy & Mather London) and Bruce Dunlop.
Awards & Call for Entries
The Shark Awards consist of two gala awards ceremonies, the Shark Awards and the Promo Shark Awards (established in 2005).
The Shark Awards are open to television, cinema, radio or web advertising with awards ranging from the “world winners”, production team craft awards and the Baby Shark (awarded to young creative teams).
The Promo Shark Awards are developed for, judged by and targeted exclusively at broadcasters and promo producers. 15 awards will be presented for promos in categories such as Best Drama, Best Film, Best use of Graphics, Best Station Ident and so on. Nigel Cole of Red Bee Media (winner of the Promo Sharks Grand Prix 2006 for their audio description promo for the BBC) will host a special promo seminar at the festival.
