New Media Opportunities For Film Makers
03 Jul 2007 :
The 19th annual Galway Film Fleadh (10th – 15th July) will be hosting an event for producers and film makers looking at new media opportunities at the Galway Radisson Hotel on Wednesday 11th July at 2.30pm. This seminar will look at the area of new media from both the producers and broadcasters perspective.

It will consider the new media revolution - the pros and cons; the falling TV viewing figures, and the reasons why broadcasters and creators alike are engaging with new media, sponsorship and marketing in order to build both brand awareness and loyal audiences. With new technology influencing how we consume entertainment in a world where buzzwords like 360 degree programming and multiplatform productions are commonplace, what exactly are the opportunities for filmmakers?

Speakers include:

Nuno Bernardo will be showcasing the series ‘Sofia’s Diary’, the world’s first interactive teen TV drama which is now being produced locally in Brazil, North America, Germany, Turkey, Korea and seven other territories, with worldwide rights being handled by Sony Pictures Television (USA). The series began on the web in Portugal 2003, where it is now in its fourth series on RTP (The Portuguese national broadcaster). Its success has led BeActive to secure a ‘First Look’ deal with Sony for the USA market where a local LA version of the show is being produced.
