RTÉ Commissions New Comedy Stunt Show ‘I Dare Ya’
03 Jul 2007 :
RTÉ Two are commissioning a new six-part comedy stunt show called ‘I Dare Ya’, which will follow the antics of comedians Andrew Stanley and Damien Clark as they carry out various dares as suggested by the public.

The comedy duo plan to put themselves at the mercy of the audience by inviting the public to email in various dares. Members of the public can suggest dares for the lads to undertake on the site www.idareya.ie.

The show will be filmed in late summer/ early autumn, using a combination of hidden and open cameras. The comedians will then develop and perform a stand-up routine based on their experiences to a live audience - the TV show will consist of clips from their routine interspersed with footage of the lads’ antics on the streets of Ireland.

As a live show, ‘I Dare Ya’ was such a success at last year's Edinburgh Festival, the comedy duo have made the leap to television. Stanley and Clark’s previous stunts included leaving for work in their underwear and gathering clothes from strangers en-route, changing into a super-hero outfit in a phone-box and setting up a table in McDonalds with silver-service cutlery.

Irishman Andrew Stanley is a regular at the Comedy Cellar in Dublin and performs as a Resident MC in numerous clubs across the country. He has taken part in the Adelaide Fringe Festival as part of the ‘Cream of Irish’ show, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Kilkenny Cat Laughs and the first ever Smithwicks Comedy on Tap Festival in Letterkenny.

Australian Damien Clark is a Dublin-based comedian who was voted ‘The Number 1 event to see’ by InDublin magazine within months of coming to Ireland. He has performed sell-out shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Kilkenny Cat Laughs and Edinburgh Fringe Festival ’05.

‘I Dare Ya’ will be produced for RTÉ by Animo TV & Kite Entertainment. The final show in their 'Class Clowns' series will be broadcast on Thursday 12th July, and will feature Deirdre O'Kane.
