Irish actor Jason O’Mara (In Justice, Band of Brothers) is lined up to star in the US adaptation of the British hit series ‘Life on Mars’.
Jason O’Mara hails from Dublin and is a graduate of Trinity College. He began his career playing roles in numerous TV series, including ‘Monarch of the Glen’, ‘The Bill’ and ‘Playing the Field’, before making a splash in the US with appearances in ‘Band of Brothers’, ‘The Agency’ and ‘In Justice’ amongst others.
In ‘Life on Mars’ O’Mara has landed the role Sam Tyler, a detective who is transported to the 1970s – where he meets a killer who he suspects is involved in the present day abduction of his girlfriend. O'Mara will star opposite Rachelle Lefevre (What About Brian), who has already been cast as Det. Annie Cartwright.
David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, Boston Leagal) is producing with 20th Century Fox TV. Kelley describes 34 year old Jason as a “tremendous talent.”
‘Life on Mars’ will broadcast on US station ABC.
