The Irish Film & Television Academy will present the first Irish screening of Mark Mahon’s ‘Strength & Honour’ at a special preview screening for Academy members in Dublin next week. Writer/director Mark Mahon and actors Gail Fitzpatrick, Finbar Furey and Michael Rawley will participate in a post screening Q&A.
The ‘Strength & Honour’ screening continues the IFTA Academy’s summer season of exclusive previews for Academy members. Previously Academy members have enjoyed sneak previews of the hit Showtime series ‘The Tudors’, the Irish comedy feature ‘Speed Dating’ and John Boorman’s ‘The Tiger’s Tail’.
‘Strength & Honour’ was filmed on location in Cork during autumn 2006. The story follows a single father decides to break his dying wife's last wish to not box again in order to save his young son from certain death. The film stars Michael Madsen, Vinnie Jones, Patrick Bergin and Richard Chamberlain alongside a strong Irish supporting cast.
‘Strength & Honour’ was recently screened at the Cannes market and producers are in negotiations to secure an international distribution deal. The IFTA Academy screening offers Academy members a unique opportunity to view an exclusive preview of this new Irish feature.
The IFTA Academy screening and Q&A will take place in Dublin on the 7th of June.
