Screen Scene Sound This Summer
2007-05-10 :
Irish post production company Screen Scene is looking ahead to a busy summer period in their sound department with leading television and feature productions lined up to utilise their newly installed Protools ICON D-CONTROL mixing desk.

The Dublin based company is currently posting ITV’s forthcoming 4 part series ‘Talk To Me’, directed by Dearbhla Walshe for Company Pictures. Screen Scene’s team of supervisor Niall Brady and mixer Ken Galvin will oversee sound post on the series.

Brady, sound supervisor on Lenny Abramson’s Cannes nominated ‘Garage’ along with mixing partner Galvin are also set to look after sound post for RTE’s 4 part series ‘Prosperity’ for Element Films.

Screen Scene has recently installed a Protools ICON D-CONTROL mixing desk. With 32 faders Screen Scenes’ ICON is the biggest and most powerful Protools desk in Ireland and is at the heart of their 5.1 mixing room in central Dublin. It is a significant enhancement of the Protools drama work flow championed by Screen Scene and used successfully on recent broadcast sound credits including Baker Street Irregulars (BBC), Northanger Abbey (ITV) Kitchen (C5) Hide and Seek (RTE) Fluffy Gardens (RTE)

Recent feature releases mixed at Screen Scene include Sundance Winner ‘Once’ directed by John Carney and ‘Kings’ directed by Tom Collins. Although the ICON arrived too late to be used in these film mixes. Ken Galvin is looking forward to mixing features on the ICON. “We have always edited and mixed on Protools. because it makes the handshake between editors and mixing desk seamless. The ICON is the new standard for drama mixing that’s why we put one in place”

This summer, Screen Scene will also audio post Daniel O Hara’s ‘Paddywhackery’ for TG4, Pat Short’s ‘Killinaskully’ directed by Eugene O’ Connor, VIPs ‘The English Class’ for RTE and Hat Tricks ‘Fairy Tales’ for BBC.

Screen Scene’s comprehensive audio infrastructure is entirely Protools based. The Dubbing Theatre, a 5.1 room uses a 32 fader ICON D-CONTROL, a second 5.1 room alongside two stereo mixing rooms utilise Protools HD systems. Six editing rooms and a Foley stage all with Protools complete the picture.
