‘Fluffy Gardens’ Animation Debuts On RTÉ
21 Feb 2007 :
  Fluffy Gardens
A new Irish animated series, ‘Fluffy Gardens’, is set to debut on RTÉ next week. The pre-school series is created, written and directed by Monster Animations’ award winning animator Jason Tammemagi (Dublin 1, Roobarb & Custard Too).

‘Fluffy Gardens’ begins broadcasting in the RTÉ Young Peoples slot on RTÉ Two, Monday February 26th 2007. The series consists of 39 episodes in total which will screen weekday mornings at 11.05am.

The animated show is narrated by actor Michael Maloney (Babel, Notes on a Scandal) and follows playful little animals who live in the whimsical world of ‘Fluffy Gardens’. Each episode introduces children to one of the animals telling a self contained, complete story about them.

The development of ‘Fluffy Gardens’ continues a trend at RTÉ Young Peoples which has increased its support for Irish animation companies and commissioned a number of series including Academy Award nominated Brown Bag Films ‘Crap Rap’ – 20 episodes and ‘I’m An Animal’, 52 episodes, Monster’s ‘Managing the Universe’ – 60 episodes and now ‘Fluffy Gardens.’ RTÉ has also purchased the rights to screen Magma Film’s IFTA nominated series ‘Ugly Duckling and Me’.

“That this series was wholly made in Ireland is reflective of the strength of the Irish animation industry today which RTÉ is delighted to be supporting”, says Young Peoples chief Sheila DeCourcy. “Already there has been strong interest in the series from broadcasters across the world, however we are delighted to be the first to screen this series on Den Tots.”

International pre-sales for the ‘Fluffy Gardens’ series include Australia’s ABC and the UK’s Cartoon Network. ‘Fluffy Gardens’ is the first animated series to be completed under the BCI funding initiative. Other financial partners for the series include; Sound & Vision Fund, Irish Film Board, RT, Target Entertainment, S481 Tax Incentive.
