The Irish/UK independent co-production reaped high box rewards in 2006 after scooping the Palme d’Or award at the Cannes Film Festival in May taking €3.7 million in Ireland alone.
‘Barely’ was beaten in the poll only by the James Bond feature film ‘Casino Royale’ which netted over $450million at the global box office. Disney swashbuckling adventure ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest ‘ was voted third with the sci-fi pic ‘Children of Men’ and indie comedy hit ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ closing the top five.
Kevin Smith’s ‘Clerks II’, ‘Borat’, horror pic ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’, ‘Superman Returns’ and ‘The Prestige’ also made the top ten list.
