Christian Wagner’s latest feature ‘Warchild’ is to open the Irish Film Institute’s German Film Festival (1 – 7 December). The acclaimed German producer/director/writer will be in town to attend the screening this Friday.
‘Warchild’ follows a resolute Bosnian mother grows determined to find the daughter who was taken from her and given to German foster parents a decade earlier. ‘Warchild’ won the screenplay prize at this year’s Montreal World Film Festival.
Other screening highlights include Andreas Dresen’s ‘Summer in Berlin’, Angelina Maccarone’s ‘Hounded’, Doris Metz’s documentary ‘Ghost Fathers’ and Philip Gröning’s Sundance Special Jury Prize winning doco ‘Into Great Silence’.
The festival closes with Hans-Christian Schmid’s multi award winning thriller ‘Requiem’ for which actress Sandar Hüller won the Best Actress award at the 2006 Berlin International Film Festival.
