Organisers of the British Short Screenplay Competition (BSSC) are accepting submissions for their sixth annual competition. Irish, British and international screenwriters can compete for a share in the prize fund.
The British Short Screenplay Competition in association with the National Film and Television School (NFTS) is open to writers of any nationality from any country. Screenplays should be between five and 15 minutes in length.
Three winning screenwriters will have their films produced by UK’s Kaos Films. Each will be premiered at BAFTA (subject to BAFTA availability), entered into film festivals around the world before being screened in selected cinemas in UK. In addition there are ten runner-up prizes. The first runner-up will receive the full suite of Movie Magic Screenplay Writing software. A further nine runners-up will each receive a copy of Movie Magic Screenwriter 2000 screenplay writing software.
The competition was established by the independent producer Arif Hussein to provide an exhibition platform and a foot in the industry door for aspiring film-makers. Judges involed in the 2007 competition includes actor/director Kenneth Branagh, producer Michael Kuhn, writer/director Sir Alan Parker, producer Nik Powell and producer/director Stephen Woolley.
