Pádraic Delaney Is Berlin Shooting Star

The Irish Film Board have announced that actor Pádraic Delaney (The Wind That Shakes the Barley) has been chosen as the as the Irish Shooting Star for 2007, at the International Berlin Film Festival (8th-18th February).

The Irish Film Board have announced that actor Pádraic Delaney (The Wind That Shakes the Barley) has been chosen as the as the Irish Shooting Star for 2007, at the International Berlin Film Festival (8th-18th February).

The Shooting Star programme is organised by the European Film Promotion (EFP) and up and coming young actors from 21 European countries are selected as shooting stars for the Berlin Film Festival every year. Delaney will attend a series of special events (including an industry breakfast and the Shooting Stars Gala) during the festival where he will meet the press and be introduced to a host of European casting directors and industry guests. Each Shooting Star is also presented with an Award recognising the actors’ achievements to date.

Pádraic graduated with a BA in Drama and Theatre Studies from the Samuel Beckett Centre in Trinity College Dublin. His credits include the TV drama series ‘Legend’ and the Cannes Palm d’Or winning film ‘The Wind That Shakes the Barley’, for which he has received Best Actor TV and Best Actor Film nominations at the forthcoming Irish Film & Television Awards. Pádraic has recently completed filming the role of George Boleyn in ‘The Tudors’ for Showtime/Working Title and is set to star in ‘Foxes’, a Czech/Irish co-production this year.

Previous Shooting Stars include Ruth Negga (Breakfast on Pluto) and Mark O’Halloran (Adam & Paul).
