John Carney's 'Once' is to screen as part of 'New Directors/New Films' Showcase at New York's Museum of Modern Art and Film Society of Lincoln Center next month.
The Department of Film at The Museum of Modern Art and the Film Society of Lincoln Center are presenting the 36th edition of New Directors/New Films, two weeks geared toward showcasing films by new or emerging international directors. This year’s festival runs Mar. 21 to Apr. 1, with screenings at MoMA’s Titus 1 Theater and Lincoln Center’s Walter Reade Theater
New Directors/New Films 2007 consists of 26 feature-length films and five shorts, with nine first-time feature length directors receiving a chance to present their work. Culled from around the world, the series features films from Japan, China, Russia, Romania, Iran, Algeria, Poland, Denmark, Norway, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, France, Scotland, Ireland, Brazil, Canada and the United States. Curators for this year’s selection are Sally Berger, Jytte Jensen and Laurence Kardish of the Museum of Modern Art and Marian Masone, Joanna Ney and Richard Pena of the Film Society.
