Cinergy Fest Begins In Dundalk
14 Feb 2007 :
The 1st Cinergy Film Festival takes place in Dundalk this week (15 – 17 February). Organised by the Louth, Newry and Mourne Film Commission, the festival includes a lineup of shorts and features.

The festival programme includes the latest from Drogheda director Graham Jones ‘Fudge 44’, a contemporary South African version of the musical ‘Carmen’ entitled ‘U-Carmen’, and the ultimate cult movie, ‘This is Spinal Tap.’

In addition, the Cinergy DIY Short Film Award is sponsored by Dundalk native and Hollywood director John Moore (Omen 666, Flight of the Phoenix, Behind Enemy Lines), and is designed to foster grass-roots film-making talent.

Moore says ““My home town has always been a source of creative talent - from film to theatre, writing and music; it resonates proudly with artistic endeavour. I feel proud and privileged to be associated with what I know will be an ever-growing and successful festival and whole-heartedly wish all the contestants the best of luck. I also wish to encourage young film-makers to stick with it , your voice will be heard, thanks, in no small part, to the enthusiastic and selfless efforts of those who make the festival possible.”
