The Galway Film Centre has revealed news of their latest events and training opportunities including Advanced Lighting with Paul Wheeler, Documentary Workshop with IFTA winner Paul Collins and Makeup with Rosin Derrane.
The GFC and FSTI have teamed with cinematographer, trainer and author of several books on Cinematography, Paul Wheeler, for an Advanced Lighting Hi Def Cameras course. The course runs in Galway from the 10 – 14 March and applications should go through FSTI. (www.screentrainingireland.ie).
The Film Centre are running a special workshop with documentary filmmaker Pat Collins on the 3rd & 4th of Feb. Pat predominately works within the Arts and Cultural documentary field having most recently completed work on a documentary on the Irish poet Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill. In 2006 he made 'Rebel County' which used the filming of Ken Loach's War of Independence film to explore the real life historical events in the South West of Ireland at that time. His highly praised multi-award winning documentary, John McGaherin: A Private World, among other prizes won Best Documentary at the Irish Film & Television Awards (IFTA) 2005.
Another course running at the GFC is the Makeup for TV Course with Rosin Derrane (Off the Rails, King Arthur, Intermission) on the 24th & 25th Feb. This weekend course will look at how to apply beauty makeup for television including eye shadow techniques. It will cover how to apply male/female makeup and keep the continuity throughout the day and will examine how to give different looks, deal with skin coloration and camouflage.
