FÁS Screen Training Ireland is seeking participants for their Essential Book-keeping workshop and their Screen Producers 3 series of seminars.
Essential Book-keeping Workshop – 18 October 2006
The book-keeping workshop is devised for emerging producers, sole traders and small production companies.
The aim of this workshop is to enable participants to establish, understand and maintain a basic book-keeping system thereby ensuring good company financial management. Areas covered include:
• Accounting for VAT
• Director obligations/ company returns
• Basic book-keeping and software options available
• Banking and bank reconciliation
• Petty cash
• Creating management information
• Reporting requirements

Screen Producers 3 (max 12 participants)
This series of modules runs between November 2006 and February 2007.
Series of Modules run between November 2006 and February 2007 Participants should be emerging producers with a track record as short film/documentary/TV Drama or should be professionals working in production companies and each participant will be actively developing a feature film project.
This programme is aimed at emerging and first time producers of feature films and television drama who have worked within a company environment or who are taking the step from producing short films /documentaries/ TV drama. This programme will examine the following areas-
Module 1
Script Analysis/ Story structure - Development Process
Module 2
Making a finance plan. Approaching Cast, Financers, Sales Agents and Distributors, Gathering delivery requirements
Module 3
Budgeting and scheduling your film, Closing the deal, Pre- production, Rights clearance, Contracts, The Bond and The Production Process
Module 4
Post production and Delivery of The Film.
Module 5
Marketing, Festivals, Digital Media Platforms and beyond.
Participants are advised to have a feature film script at hand which they intend to produce over the coming years. Each Participant will be required to develop a finance plan and a production and sales strategy in relation to the project. The strategy will be honed and revisited as the participant goes through the process. Please note this script will be used for reference/ test case purposes only throughout the course.
