Irish editor Bob Caldwell has drawn praise for his work on the recent RTE series ‘In Search of the Pope's Children’. The three part series was based upon David McWilliams’ best selling book of the same name.
The three part series began broadcasting on RTE One on November 6th. Produced by Ruan Magan at Tyrone Productions and directed by Sarah Share, the series followed McWilliams as he examined the economic and social landscape of Ireland in 2006.
Critically praised by the press, editor Bob Caldwell was particularly singled out for his work on the project. “Smartly edited” said the Sunday Times; “expertly edited” agreed The Tribune and the Sunday Business Post praised “Bob Caldwell conjured a blizzard of images to match Mcwilliams’ storm of similes, metaphors and Swiftean comparisons.” Caldwell cut and onlined 'Pope’s Children' on Avid and graded the series on the same system with progressive fluid film and magic bullet plug-ins.
Pulling in over 500,000 viewers for its third and final installment, the series is another successful title on Caldwell’s list of credits which also includes 'Family Silver' for Liberty Films and BAFTA nominated 'The Fucker Fulfords' for Optimum in London. Caldwell has set up a Dublin based facility with four Avid suites called BCTV with company credits including ‘No Experience Required’ for Liberty, 'Health Squad' for Nemeton and 'The Bay' for Baily Media.
