Blinder Recruits Four New Directors
14 Sep 2006 :
Blinder, the production company behind the AIB Ryder Cup commercial ‘Epic’, has signed four new directors for representation; the Oscar nominated Gary McKendry, Hady, Peter Darrell and Martin Brennan.

“We are delighted to grow our stable of directors, to represent such a varied pool of talent,” said Michael Duffy, Blinder Managing Director. “The important thing to us it that the calibre of our work remains high and if you look at any of these director’s work, you can see that ethos reflected there.”

Belfast born Gary McKendry began his career in advertising on the agency side in New York, as an Art Director. Since moving to directing, he has made award winning spots for Ikea, Porsche, Budweiser, AT&T and Coca Cola. He was Oscar-nominated in 2005 for his short live action film ‘Everything in this Country Must.’

London-based, Hady has directed over 60 commercials for clients including, Tango, Ikea, Honda, Diesel, Smart, The Times and Audi.

UK director Peter Darrell has won awards internationally and has over 100 commercials under his belt. His 1996 ‘Poppy’ commercial for Glaxo Wellcome is on permanent display at the Toyko Museum of Modern Art and his Apollo Optik ‘Spring’ spot was RTL’s comedy commercial of the year.

Finally, 28 year old Martin Brennan was signed after impressing the Blinder team with his high calibre test spot. In addition to a promising career in commercials, he is in development on his first feature ‘The Fairy Tree’ with producer Mark Huffam (Saving Private Ryan, The Hours) with support funding from the NIFTC.

This brings the Blinder roster to eight directors, including Brian Williams, Enda McCallion, Kieron J. Walsh and Richie Smyth.

All of their showreels can be seen online at www.blinder.ie.
