Hollywood sources report Oscar winning actress Charlize Theron will star in the political drama ‘Battle in Seattle’, written and to be directed by Irish actor Stuart Townsend.
‘Battle in Seattle’ is the directorial debut for Townsend who has featured in movies such as ‘About Adam’, ‘The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’ and ‘Queen of the Damned’. Theron, who is also Townsend’s long term girlfriend, has starred in ‘Monster’, ‘North Country’ and ‘The Italian Job’.
‘Battle in Seattle’ centres around the events at the WTO summit in Seattle during 1999, where a group of demonstrators made up of activists, doctors, anarchists, barristers, eco-warriors and regular people bring the city to a standstill and chase the WTO out of town. After working on the story for two years, Townsend has begun shopping the script around various investors and studio heads.
