US indie distributors IFC Entertainment have signed a deal to roll out Ken Loach’s ‘The Wind That Shakes the Barley’ in the US. The film will release next year simultaneously in cinemas and cable TV through IFC’s on-demand cable service.
The Wind That Shakes the Barley’ won the Palme d’Or earlier this year at the Cannes film festival. The Irish civil war drama stars Cillian Murphy, Padraic Delaney and Liam Cunningham and was shot in Ireland during 2005.
The film will receive its North American premiere at the Toronto Film Festival next month. Pathe Pictures International hold the rights to the film and inked the deal with IFC’s president Jonathan Sehring and Elizabeth Nastro.
‘The Wind That Shakes the Barley’ is currently on release in Irish cinemas.
