11 Jul 2006 :
Academy Award nominated Brown Bag Films has just delivered the 52 X 2 minute animation series Im an Animal for 3 – 6 year olds. The series was commissioned by state broadcaster RTE and the Irish Film Board and distributed by Monster Distributes.

Produced by Cathal Gaffney and directed by Darragh O’Connell, the series has already been picked up by Nickelodeon UK, Nickelodeon Asia, Nickelodeon Benelux, TV Onatario, Knowledge Network Canada, Cartoon Network Australia, RAI Italy, Hungama India, Hong Kong Cable Television, Al Sayyar for Middle East with a number of further deals under negotiation, and a UK/IRL Video deal with Sanctuary Home Video.

“There has been a fantastic response to the series which was one of the most watched programmes at MIPCOM Junior. There’s been keen competition for broadcast and DVD rights and we see huge potential in mobile and internet broadcast too”, said Andrew Fitzpatrick of Monster Distributes.

Based on the success of the series Brown Bag has just produced the first episode of a 52 X 2 minute companion series 'Im a Dinosaur'. Brown Bag Films also recently delivered a 10 part series 'Crap Rap' to RTE which has just been picked up for a second series. 'Crap Rap' is an animated soap for young teenagers about a group of school kids who Rap and they’re crap. Created by Nicky Phelan, this series reached number 11 on iTunes podcasting charts.

'Im an Animal' features 52 different interviews with animals who explain to camera who they are and what they do in a humourous manner. "The challenge was to keep this series fun and interesting and at the same time giving facts to kids about these amazing animals that we sometimes take for granted", said director Darragh O’Connell. "It was fun giving each of the 52 animals their own distinctive character and personality, from the macho jellyfish or the laidback camel all the way to the arrogant rat and the romantic donkey."
