Ruth Bradley Joins BBC’s ‘The Innocence Project’
22 May 2006 :

Ruth Bradley in Legend

Rising Irish actress Ruth Bradley (The Clinic, Love is the Drug) has joined the cast of a major new eight-part drama series for BBC Northern Ireland entitled ‘The Innocence Project’. The series has been developed by ‘The Girl in the Café’ producers Tightrope Pictures.

The university set legal drama begins production in the UK this week. Joining an ensemble cast led by ‘Monarch of The Glen’ actor Lloyd Owen, Bradley plays Beth, a brilliant and passionate legal student. Owen plays Professor Jon Ford, a maverick teacher who sets up ‘The Innocence Project’, peopled entirely by a hand-picked group of law students. The aim of the project is to take on pro bono work for “no hope” cases and people who have been wrongly convicted. Other cast includes Stephen Graham (Goal, Snatch), Luke Treadaway (Brothers Of The Head), Christine Bottomley (The Street) and Oliver James (What A Girl Wants).

The series is written by ‘Rescue Me’ screenwriter Oliver Brown and director Bill Anderson (Dockers, The Lakes) takes the helm. Produced by Kirstie Macdonald (Outlaws) and commissioned by BBC Northern Ireland (Murphy's Law, The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard) by Patrick Spence and Kate Evans. Exec producer is Hilary Bevan Jones and Paul Abbott (Tightrope Pictures – The Girl in the Café, Dad, To The Ends Of The Earth and All In The Game).

Jane Tranter, BBC's Controller, Drama Commissioning, says: "It's great to be working with the creative powerhouse of Hilary Bevan Jones and Paul Abbott, and to have the attention of Tightrope focussed on smart pre-watershed drama on BBC ONE”.

"Oliver Brown is an extraordinary and bright new writing talent, and his first major drama series is packed full of engaging characters and stonking stories."

Ruth Bradley will next be seen on the Irish small screen in the forthcoming RTE drama ‘Legend’.
