LA based Irish director Enda McCallion has completed work on the new AIB Ryder Cup commercial entitled ‘EPIC!’
Produced by commericals production company Blinder, the promo was shot in Ireland over 20 locations including Slea Head in Dingle, Luggala in County Wicklow, McDaids pub in Dublin and on a deserted O’Connell Bridge in Dublin. It featured over 100 crew and over 200 cast.
“From the beginning, my task was to make it look big - but to be clever about how we did that. For example, we shot all of it in Ireland and used CG to match for New York and Europe,” said Donegal born McCallion. “We have some crowd scenes that look huge, but actually the trick is to be clever about how you shoot an ad. That's part of the creative challenge for me as the director.”
Enda has made over 150 commercials in forty countries for major international brands such as McDonalds, Cadillac, Nestea and Citroen. Enda is currently preparing to shoot his first feature film ‘Night’, starring ‘The OC’ actress Mischa Barton.
The advert was cut at Windmill Lane in Dublin and was then brought to a leading post-production graphics house, Buf, in Paris to handle the graphic effects. In total post-production lasted three months, with the director supervising graphics work on Web download from LA, before final presentation back in Dublin. The score is a specially re-recorded full orchestral version of Clint Mansell’s Summer Overture from the film 'Requiem for a Dream', arranged by Fiachra Trench.
'EPIC' will run between May and September across all main TV channels, TV, radio, outdoor and online.
