John Irvin’s ‘The Boys From County Clare’ will open the forthcoming New York CRAIC Celtic Film and Music Festival taking place in March 2005.
The CRAIC Film Fleadh, now in its seventh year, is one of New York’s premiere film events. The festival boasts an “antidote to the cliched green beer events that saturate New York that time of year, offering a genuine perspective on Celtic culture.”
Other Irish features confirmed for the festival include Lance Daly’s ‘The Halo Effect’, and the Irish Film and Television Awards Best Irish Film winner of 2004 ‘Omagh’ from director Pete Travis.
The music element of the event will feature performances from Mainline, Bronagh Gallgher and Scottish band RAAR.
"We are really excited about this year’s Festival, particularly the expansion of the Music Series”, says Terence Mulligan, Festival Director. “We are positioning the festival as a pre-St. Patrick’s Day event and musically as a lead in to the SXSW festival. It is wonderful to be able to showcase emerging talent with a Celtic connection, and there’s no better international stage to launch new talent like New York City.”
The CRAIC Film Fleadh is taking place March 2 – 6, followed by the Music Series which is from March 10 - 12. To book your tickets now or for more information on the program, visit www.thecraicfest.com. The CRAIC is sponsored by, the American TV Network, NBC.
