The Craic Music and Film Series kicks off February 25, 2004 in New York City and runs for four weeks through March 21. This year’s CRAIC Music and Film Series is comprised of the return of the successful Sixth Annual Film Fleadh in addition to a variety of live musical events by emerging and established Irish performers.
“The Craic is about merging the success of the annual Film Fleadh with a musical element giving New Yorkers, not just the Irish, a progressive, grassroots Festival over the course of six weeks with an eclectic lineup of filmmakers and musicians,” states CRAIC Series founder Terence Mulligan. Film Fleadh Board Member Bingham Ray (formerly of United Artist), says “What Guinness is to Ireland, the Craic is to New York City.”
The Music Series launches the CRAIC on February 25, 2004 with a series of dates at The Knitting Factory 74 Leonard St., the exclusive venue of the Series. Some of the performers scheduled to appear over the course of the Music Series are the Hot House Flowers, Damien Dempsey, Mark Geary, Republic of Loose, Seanchai, Icewagon Flu and Mr. North, amongst others. The CRAIC Music Series culminates with the March 11th New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation Benefit Concert (the official lineup will be announced shortly.) The New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation is a non-profit organization of firefighters founded in 1975, dedicated to the advancement of burn care, research, prevention, education, and the proper treatment of burns to all who are seriously burned, regardless of age, race, creed or economic status.
The Film Series continues the CRAIC with the sixth annual Film Fleadh taking place from March 18, 2004 running through March 21. “Intermission” opens the Film Fleadh @ Chelsea Clearview Cinemas West. The winner of the 2003 Irish Film & Television Awards for Best Irish Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor, “Intermission” stars Colin Farrell, Shirley Henderson, Cillian Murphy, and Colm Meaney.
