Moonstone Lab in Scotland

Moonstone International Artistic Director Jean-Luc Ormičres has announced the participants, and their projects, selected from throughout Europe for the Filmmakers’ Lab 2004, which will take place in Drymen near Loch Lomond, Scotland between 2 and 16 February.

Moonstone’s Filmmakers’ Lab’s principal sponsors are Scottish Enterprise, AVID Technology Ireland, Hubbard Casting, BBC Scotland and VFG Ireland.

The Filmmakers’ Lab is an intensive 15 day development programme. Participating directors will collaborate with professional actors and crews to rehearse, shoot, edit and screen key scenes from their feature film project, under the guidance of award-winning director Advisors from the USA and Europe.

Confirmed Advisors include Jack Gold (The Bofors Gun), John Irvin (Hamburger Hill), Michael Hoffman (Midsummer Night’s Dream), Philippe Le Guay (Trois huit), Philip Saville (Metroland), Gerry Stembridge (About Adam).

Recent Moonstone participants, and their projects, include Lynne Ramsay’s Ratcatcher, Hans Petter Molland’s Aberdeen, Sara Sugarman’s Very Annie Mary, Brian Campbell’s and Laurence McKeown’s H3, Maeve Murphy’s Silent Grace, Shimmy Marcus’ Headrush, Veit Helmer’s Gate To Heaven, Liz Gill’s Goldfish Memory and David Gleeson’s Cowboy’s & Angels. Kenny Glennan’s film Spark is in post-production with Parallax and Terry Loane’s film Jonjo Mickybo is in post-production with Working Title.

Moonstone International Screen Labs is an advanced development programme for experienced writers and directors, who are working on feature film projects for an international audience. Moonstone runs three Labs per year: one Lab for directors and two Labs for screenwriters.
