From producers James Flynn and Juanita Wilson at Dublin based Octagon Films and Working Title 2 executive producers Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Natascha Wharton ('Bridget Jones' Diary', 'Billy Elliot', 'About A Boy') along with the backing of the Irish Film Board comes an extraordinary story of friendship and determination, directed by Damien O'Donnell ('East Is East', 'Heartlands').
Now shooting in Dublin, the film features a talented young cast with Romola Garai ('I Capture the Castle', 'Vanity Fair', 'Havana Nights') as Siobhan and James McAvoy ('Wimbledon', 'Bright Young Things') and newcomer Steven Robertson as the two young men at the heart of the story.
Written by Jeffrey Caine ('Goldeneye') and based on a story by Christian O'Reilly, 'Inside I'm Dancing' is the story of Michael (Steven Robertson), a twenty four year old with cerebral palsy and a long-term resident of the Carrigmore Residential Home for the Disabled, run by the formidable Eileen (Brenda Fricker). His life is transformed when the maverick Rory O'Shea (James McAvoy) moves in. Michael is stunned to discover that fast talking Rory, who can move only his right hand, can understand his almost unintelligible speech. Rory's dynamic and rebellious nature soon sparks a flame in Michael, introducing him to a whole new world outside of Carrigmore.
Together the two men outwit the system and set themselves up in a flat employing the beautiful Siobhan (Romola Garai) as their personal assistant, to cook, clean and take care of their needs. She soon becomes integral to the boys efforts at successful independent living and begins to realise that this responsibility brings as many complications as it does rewards.
'Inside I'm Dancing' is the story of what happens when two frustrated, ambitious and romantic young men, determined to live life to the full, reach out and grasp their opportunity.
Currently filming on location in Dublin, the production will finish in Ardmore Studios and wrap on December 12. Universal Pictures will release the film internationally next year. Universal Pictures is a division of Vivendi UNIVERSAL Entertainment (VUE) (www.universalstudios.com), the U.S.-based film, television and recreation entity of Vivendi Universal, a global media and communications company.
