Congratulations to Spiddal based company Telegael on their win at the Emmy Awards held in LA on Saturday the 15th of May 2004. The team picked up the Special Class Animated series Award for their series ‘Tutenstein’.
The
Emmy Awards are the Oscars of Television in the United States and this win
is a fantastic achievement for the Irish company. The series, a co-production

Entertainment
(Los Angeles), Nic Entertainment (Korea) and Discovery Channel, is a 26
x half-hour animated series about a ten-year-old boy mummy who is struck
by lightning and brought back to life in a modern-day museum in a large
metropolitan city. Paul Cummins (Executive Producer) and Siobhan Ni Ghadhra
(Producer) were present at the ceremony to collect their awards.

The show was aired coast to coast in the US on NBC as part of the Discovery Kids Block on Saturday mornings. Fox Kids Europe has acquired the distribution rights for all of Europe and the series has been broadcast in the UK on ITV and an Irish language version of the series is also being produced by Telegael, based in the Gaeltacht.
Other big winners at the show were PBS children series "Sesame Street" who won six trophies, and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" took three.
‘Tutenstein’ has also been nominated for the Prix Juenesse Awards due to be held in Germany, June 2004.
