The 6th Annual Film Fleadh & CRAIC festival wrapped on
Saturday March 20th with Yu Ming Is Anim Dom emerging victorious with the award for Best Short and The Kodak/Orbit Digital Audience Award went to Headrush.
'Yu Ming' is a 13 minute film made by Dough Productions and is a fantastic debut from writer & director Daniel O’Hara. Talking to IFTN today he commented “Everyone involved with "Yu Ming Is Ainm Dom" is delighted at winning our first stateside award! Terence Mulligan at the NY Film fleadh has been a great supporter of the film since he saw it in Galway last year and he gave us a great screening slot before "Spin The Bottle"….. I'm thrilled that the film has proven so popular with such a wide audience. Maybe some of the Irish immigrants to New York could relate to the plight of a young Chinese guy arriving in Dublin!”
Director Shimmy Marcus was present at the festival to accept the Audience Award for his film 'Headrush'. He poetically said in his acceptance speech "I can’t believe
it, It’s unbelievable. It’s a nice reward for 7 years of breaking your arse".
The Film Fleadh was tremendously successful this year. Screening 3 US premieres it set new attendance records for the festival and continues to be a valuable asset for the best of emerging Irish talent.
