This course is aimed at small production companies to help them understand the commissioning process in terms of what the commissioning body is looking for – by knowing the process and criteria, the potential for successful applications will be optimised. The workshop will cover the following key elements.
- Format (entertainment/fiction/factual)
- The script
- The pitch
- The schedule
- Transmission

Directing In Irish
This bi-lingual course is aimed at Irish speaking emerging directors.
Course Duration: One Weekend
Course Dates: 31st Jan & 1st Feb
Course cost: €190 unwaged/€220 waged
This course is aimed at emerging directors working in TV, theatre and related fields. It will cover the craft of directing actors for the small screen and both single and multi-camera directing. It will consist of practical exercises, interpretation of script and how to impart successful directions to actors. Places are limited to twelve participants and some places are still available. The course tutor is Anne McCabe, former commissioning editor TG4, director Fair City and Glenroe and Ros na Rún. A reasonable standard of Irish is desirable but not essential.

Galway Film Centre present a Seven- weekend Film Foundation Course.
This course is aimed at those who are unfamiliar with the filmmaking process, and who would value the opportunity of gaining hands-on practical experience in a variety of different areas.
Course Duration: Seven weekends
Course Dates: 31st Jan –14 Mar
Course cost: €610 unwaged/€670 waged
Completing this course would be ideal for those hoping to apply for a third level course in Film or Video production; and the resulting short film would compliment the participant’s portfolio. Modules include film history, scriptwriting, direction, production, sound, lighting and editing.
