Celebrations End on a High Note for Foyle

The 16th Seagate Foyle Film Festival celebrations came to an end with a glittering awards ceremony on Sunday afternoon at the Tower Hotel. Special guests who attended the Festival's Light In Motion (LIM) Awards included Director Shimmy Marcus and two leading actors from "Headrush", Wuzza Conlon and Gavin Kelty, Also in attendance were International and Irish filmmakers who took part in the festival competition.

LIM awards were presented for the following six categories; Best Irish short, Best International short, Best Animation, Best Documentary, Best Feature and Best Sound Track for an Irish film. The LIM awards were sponsored by City of Derry Crystal.

SEAGATE FOYLE FILM FESTIVAL LIM AWARD WINNERS FOR 2003:

Best Irish short -Winner - "A Dublin Story" directed by Graham Cantwell Graham was in attendance to collect the LIM award.
Highly Recommended Irish Short - "The Honourable Scaffolder" directed by Brendan Muldowney

Best International short - Winner - "Mrs Meitlemeihr" directed by Graham Rose, UK
Highly Recommended International Shorts " Dust" directed by Ruxaudia Zeude, Switzerland/Czech Republic and "Dr. Cuddle" directed by Anja Jacobs, Germany.

Best Animation - Winner - "Harvie Crumpet" directed by Adam Elliot, Australia ('Harvie Crumpet' is distributed by Monster Distributes)

Best Documentary Winner - "CHAVEZ" directed by Kim Bartley, Donnacha O Briain, Ireland

Best Feature Film - Winner - "Together With You" directed by Chen Kaige, China.
Distribution Company: Momentum.
The award was accepted by David Gothard on behalf of Chen Kaige.
Highly Recommended Feature Film - "Spin the Bottle" directed by Ian Fitzgibbon, Ireland. Distribution Company: Buena Vista International

Best Sound Track for an Irish film - Winner- "Headrush" directed by Shimmy Marcus.
Director Shimmy Marcus and lead actors in "Headrush", Wuzza Conlon and Gavin Kelty were in attendance to collect LIM award.

Throughout the ten-day event cinema goers were spoilt for choice with the best in contemporary, Irish and international film. These included Foreign Language, Classic Movies, Documentaries, Shorts and Animation. For those more interested in the creative process of filmmaking the festival offered cutting-edge masterclasses in special effects and industry focused events, not to mention the festival club entertainment. The Education element continues to be a unique part of the Seagate Foyle Film Festival and continues to offer a challenging cultural programme.
