Telegael Nominated For Second Emmy Award

Spiddal based television company, Telegael, has been nominated for a prestigious Emmy award for a second consecutive year, shortlisted in the ‘Outstanding Children's Animated Program’ category for its animated series ‘ToddWorld’.

The 32nd. Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations were announced in Los Angeles yesterday by the National Television Academy. The nominated ‘ToddWorld’ series is being co-produced by Telegael with Los Angeles based studios, Mike Young Productions and Discovery Kids channel.

Based on the international best-selling books published by Little, Brown and Company, the ‘ToddWorld’ series is centred around Todd, an artistic, offbeat young boy and his eclectic group of friends as they experience life in ‘Silly City’. Aimed at 2 to 5 year olds, the series brings home the idea that "it's OK to be different," and encourages individuality and creativity. ‘ToddWorld’ recently commenced broadcasting on the Discovery Kids Channel in America and on the Canadian Channel TVO. UK screening rights have recently been acquired by the BBC.

'Toddworld' faces competition in the ‘Outstanding Children's Animated Program’ category from 'Arthur'(PBS), 'Dora The Explorer' (NIK), 'Kim Possible' (DIS) and 'Peep and The Big Wide World' (TLC).

In 2004, Telegael won an Emmy award in the ‘Outstanding Special Class Animated Programme’ category for another of its children’s animation productions, entitled ‘Tutenstein’. ‘Tutenstein’ tells the story of a ten-year-old boy mummy who is struck by lightning and brought back to life in a modern-day museum in a large metropolitan city and is currently being shown on Tuesdays on RTE’s DEN-TV at 3.45pm. and on many channels internationally.

The Telegael Media and Entertainment group is one of Ireland’s leading television and animation companies employing 35 people full time and many others on a part time and contractual basis.

The 32nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards is a presentation of the National Television Academy in co-operation with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The 2005 Awards ceremony will take place in Hollywood on May 14th.
