'Spin the Bottle' on Release 28 November

'Spin the Bottle' is written by Ian Fitzgibbon and Michael McElhatton and based on the characters first seen in their highly successful TV series 'Paths to Freedom'. It is also the feature film directorial debut of Ian Fitzgibbon, who began his career as an actor at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and has since directed three successful short movies as well as the two acclaimed television series 'Paths to Freedom' and 'Fergus's Wedding'. The film is produced by Grand Pictures.

Michael McElhatton also a RADA graduate, is well known to Irish cinema audiences for his work in such movies as 'I Went Down', 'Saltwater', and most recently 'The Actors'. He was also seen in the highly acclaimed recent release 'Intermission'.

Peter McDonald who plays Rats’ sidekick Tommo also starred in both 'Paths to Freedom' and 'Fergus's Wedding'. He is familiar to cinema audiences as he starred in 'I Went Down', 'Felicia's Journey' 'Nora', and 'When Brendan Met Trudy'.

Other key roles are played by Simon Delaney of 'Bachelors Walk' fame; Bronagh Gallagher ('The Commitments' and 'Pulp Fiction' among many others); and of course the highly accomplished stage & screen actor, Donal O’Kelly who completes the line-up of Spermdotcom in the guise of Brainer. Other well-known Irish personalities who appear in key cameo roles are Gerry Ryan, Louis Walsh, Miriam O’Callaghan and Samantha Mumba.

'Spin the Bottle' will be released in Ireland in November 28th and received its World Premiere screening at Galway Film Fleadh. It has received 3 awards in the Irish Film & Television Awards including: Best Music in Film or Television; Best Costume and Best Art Direction.

Synopsis: When Rats (Michael McElhatton) is released from prison yet again, his return to his Mother’s house gets off to a bad start. The money painstakingly saved to send his Aunt to Lourdes (for a miracle cure for her terminal obesity!), is stolen.

Rats embarks on a series of hapless attempts to replace the stolen money before its too late to save his stricken Aunty. The penny eventually drops and when he decides he must use his only weapon - his musical genius - Enter his old band Spermdotcom, Tommo now gainfully employed in an animal sanctuary (Peter McDonald) and Brainer, now playing keyboard for a heavy metal band (Donal O Kelly).
