Showtime Production To Film In Ireland and Rome

'Tennessee Williams' The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone', starring Helen Mirren and Anne Bancroft, will film in Rome and Ireland.

Oscar nominee and Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Helen Mirren (“The Madness of King George,” “Prime Suspect” and SHOWTIME’s “The Passion of Ayn Rand” and “Losing Chase”) and Oscar and Emmy winner Anne Bancroft (“Agnes of God,” “The Graduate,” “The Miracle Worker,” “Deep In My Heart”) will star in the Showtime Original Picture TENNESSEE WILLIAMS’ THE ROMAN SPRING OF MRS. STONE, which is slated to begin production in April 2002.

Based on the Tennessee Williams’ novella, TENNESSEE WILLIAMS’ THE ROMAN SPRING OF MRS. STONE is the story of a recently widowed middle-aged American actress and her affair with a young Italian gigolo.

TENNESSEE WILLIAMS’ THE ROMAN SPRING OF MRS. STONE is executive produced by Hilary Heath (“Real Stories of the Highway Patrol,” “Frenchman’s Creek,” “Rebecca”) from a script by Martin Sherman (“Bent,” “Indian Summer”). Emmy nominee Robert Allan Ackerman (“Life With Judy Garland: Me And My Shadow”) will direct. Joan Boorstein serves as the creative executive on behalf of Showtime Networks Inc.

Showtime Networks Inc. (SNI), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Viacom Inc., owns the premium television networks SHOWTIME, THE MOVIE CHANNEL and FLIX, as well as the multiplex channels SHOWTIME TOO, SHOWTIME SHOWCASE, SHOWTIME EXTREME, SHOWTIME BEYOND, SHOWTIME NEXT, SHOWTIME WOMEN, SHOWTIME FAMILYZONE, SHOWTIME SHOWCASE and TMC xtra. SNI operates and manages the premium television network SUNDANCE CHANNEL, which is owned by SNI, Robert Redford and Universal Studios. SNI markets and distributes sports and entertainment events for exhibition to subscribers on a pay-per-view basis through SET (Showtime Event Television) Pay Per View. Additionally, the advertiser-supported television network SHOWTIME EXTREME is available in Spain through a joint venture with Media Park and the advertiser-supported television network SHOWTIME is available in Turkey through a joint venture with UK-based Zone Vision.
