AMPAS has ruled out the eligibility of 'Bloody Sunday', the award-winning feature by Paul Greengrass, because of the broadcast of the film in January 2002.
According to Academy rules, a film screened outside of the US can not be considered for the Oscars if it has been shown publically in any other medium for six months after the start of its theatrical run.
The film has already won the Golden Bear at Berlin in February this year, and the British Independent Film Awards, as well as being nominated for the IFTA awards in January 2003.
