15 Feb 2001 :
Interactive Content To Accompany Features

Filmfestivals.com is launching the online world premieres of six new feature-length films for broadband users on January 28th and will continue to showcase these films online during the Sundance, Rotterdam and Berlin film festivals, it is announced by Filmfestivals president, Malo Girod de l’Ain, and COO Bruno Chatelin.

The server’s broadband portal, filmfestivalsTV.com, will also netcast a wide range of online tools and content related to the films to enhance the interactive screening experience. These will include for each film background interviews with stars and filmmakers, stills, festival track records, dedicated forum, chat rooms, film quiz, and film soundtrack elements.

Stated Malo Girod de l’Ain: “Filmfestivals.com has selected a group of highly distinguished and award-winning independent feature films for its inaugural push into broadband internet streaming. We are building a new way to experience movies with online interactivity. We provide viewers and film teams innovative online experience to interact around the film. The first six films will all be available simultaneously for audiences that have broadband connections.”

Added Bruno Chatelin: “Broadband tidal wave is coming with just above 7 millions US homes subscribing to broadband Internet access.

We are thrilled with the prospect of writing history of film for the filmmakers of our ‘talent pool’. We are really proud of our selection of movies from the festival circuit.”

First six films were premiered online:
