Guests at the 14th Budweiser Foyle Film Festival

Directors, writers, artists, animators and special effects experts will converge at the 14th Budweiser Foyle Film Festival from 9-18 November.

Local TV producer/presenter Joe Mahon will introduce Neil Jordan on Saturday 10th November at 3.30pm to inevitable crowds at the Nerve centre.

The man responsible for the script of '24 Hour Party People', Frank Cottrell-Boyce will be in Derry to introduce the screening of one of his other projects, 'Pandaemonium' on Sunday 11th November at the Strand multiplex, 9pm. He will also hold a screen-writing workshop at the Trinity/Travelodge on Sun 11th at 3pm.

Armagh-born cinematographer, Seamus McGarvey worked alongside Frank Cottrell-Boyce on 'Butterfly Kiss' and will attend the opening night premiere of 'Wit,' the cinematography for which he was also responsible.

Director of 'Pandaemonium,' Julien Temple will be in town for the screening also, which tells the story of drugs, genius, poetry, love and betrayal that bound together Samuel Coleridge and William Wordsworth.

Conor McPherson directed Michael Gambon and David Thewlis in his recent film production of Samuel Beckett's 'Endgame' and will give a special introduction to the screening at 11am on Wednesday 14th November at the Waterside Theatre. A second screening will take place at 7pm in the Nerve Centre and McPherson will take part in a question and answer session after the screening, which will be hosted by local BBC radio presenter, Mark Patterson.

Oscar nominated Director, Jimmy T Murakami will be animating the people when he visits the festival to talk about his work. One of the most respected animators in the industry, Jimmy's most famous credits include 'The Snowman' and 'When The Wind Blows'. His most eagerly awaited recent project is the animation of the much loved and familiar story 'A Christmas Carol', which will feature the voices of, among many famous others, Kate Winslett and Nicholas Cage. Jimmy's workshop will be on 13th November at 2pm in the Nerve Centre.

Stephen McLaughlin, the composer and sound engineer has worked on movies such as 'Robin Hood, Prince Of Thieves', will give a demonstration at this year's festival on using the latest in digital technology, to create a score for the big screen. The special event is at 1pm on Saturday 17th November, again in the Nerve Centre.

Workshops are £2 each.
