Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands, Sile deValera has announced new appointments to the Irish Film Board. The seven members of the new board includes three from the outgoing board: Ossie Kilkenny remains as Chair, Ann OConnell (PriceWaterhouseCoopers and co-author of the Coopers and Lybrand report for the Irish audiovisual industry in 1992) and Morgan OSullivan, (producer).
The new members of the board are: Martha ONeill (producer and Chair of the Film Institute of Ireland), Margaret McCarthy MacIntyre (lecturer in Irish Cultural History at NUI), Roddy Doyle (Booker prize winning author and scriptwriter), Alan Gilsenan (filmmaker and former Chair of FMI). These appointments are effective until January 2005. The Minister thanked the outgoing members of the Board: Gabriel Byrne, Mary Alleguen, Nuala Moiselle and Mick Hannigan.
