Irish actor Brendan
Gleeson is to play opposite Hollywood heavyweight Tom Cruise in
the sequel to Mission Impossible surprisingly entitled Mission Impossible
II. He is reported to be playing a charming but evil upper class
British Industrialist in the film which is to be directed by John
Woo.
The film is to be shot
in Australia and also stars Ian McKellen, Ving Rhames, Steve Zahn,
Thandie Newton and Dougray Scott. Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner's
C/W Prods. are producing the movie for Paramount Pictures.
Gleeson who's role in
John Boorman's 'The General' received excellent reviews can currently
be seen in Irish cinemas in 'Sweety Barrett' and has since worked
on 'Lake Placid' where he plays a small town sheriff opposite Bridget
Fonda, Bill Pullman and Oliver Platt and most recently worked with
Brian Cox and Peter McDonald in Saltwater, Conor McPherson's film
based on his stage play, This Lime Tree Bower.
