Arthouse Multimedia Centre for the Arts in Dublin has received Media II funding to run the highly successful Digital Multimedia Authoring Training Project for Broadcast Professionals (DMA) course for the second year running. This course includes two intensive modules for 20 broadcast professionals from across Europe. The course is again being held at Arthouse and is the first web-based digital broadcast course to be run in Europe.
The original DMA course trained participants to use the latest digital audio-visual technology to transmit traditional audiovisual content via the Internet. The course has been substantially revised by Kelly Mc Erlean, Arthouse Training Manager to include advances in new media technologies, methodologies and theoretical perspectives including Web TVs, digital compression, IT convergence and participatory communication.
Participants will represent a broad cross-section of broadcast organisations and independent film-makers from the European community including,
European Broadcast Union, Geneva, Switzerland
Hellenic Broadcast Corporation, Athens, Greece
Finnish Broadcast Company/YLE, Finland
Radio Televisione Italiana RAI, Italy
Danish Broadcast Corporation, Denmark
The DMA programme is a combination of two two-week periods of intensive study (taking place in Arthouse) after which participants return to their home counteries to continue work on a combined distance learning project via Email and the Internet.
On completion of the course participants will be able to produce digital audio-visual content for web-based broadcasting. They will design and implement dynamic web sites in their home countries.
DMA is accredited by the Institute of Commercial Management.
