The
European Film Academy is holding a producer's meeting on Friday
19 June in the Irish Film Centre in Eustace Street, Dublin at 4pm
organised by MEDIA Desk Ireland in association with Film Makers
Ireland with the support of Church & General and Network Insurances.
The speakers are Ulrich Felsberg, Klaus Keil, Deiter Kossslick and
Paul Donovan as chair.
In 1986, Ulrich Felsberg
became Wim Wenders' partner in Road Movies Production and has since
then produced more than 40 films. He work with Wim Wenders includes
'Cities and Clothes' (1989), Until the End of the World (1991),
Faraway, So Close (1992), The End of Violence (1998/99), The Million
Dollar Hotel (currently in post production), as well as Beyond the
Clouds (1995) by Micelangelo Antonioni and Wim Wenders.
He also produced or
co-produced such movies as: Land and Freedom (1994) Carla's Song
(1995) and My Name is Joe (1997) all by Ken Loach; The Absence (1992)
by Peter Handke; Guatananmere (1995) by Thomas Gutierrez Alea; A
Further Gesture (1996) by Robert Dornhelm, Le Polygraphe (1996)
by Robert Lepage; Malena es un Nombre de tango (1995/96) and Territorio
Comanche (1996) both by Gerardo Herrero, Airbag (1997) by Juanma
Bajo Ulloa; and Vigo: Passion for Life (1998) by Julien Temple.
Klaus Keil was appointed
Chief Executive Officer of the Filmboard Berlin-Brandenburg in 1994.
He started his career in film as an assistant director, then a production
manager and later line producer of high budget feature film and
TV productions.
In 1983 he became Managing
shareholder of Metropolis Worldsales GmbH and 1986 Head of Department
Production Corporate Video's of Neue Constantin Film GmbH, Munich.
He then worked as Deputy Head of Production of Bavaria Film Studios.
He is founding Charman of the Federal Association for Film and TV
Producing of EAVE - a training programme of the European Community
for young producers in the framework of MEDIA; a Member of the Board
of Governers of the European Film College, Ebeltoft, denmark; Creator
and Organiser of the commercial contest of the film school students
(Hennesssy-Price) in co-operation with five creative directors and
a Board Member of ACE (Atelier du Cinema European).
Dieter Kosslick worked
as a research assistant, spechwriter, press spokesman and journalist
for the magazine 'Konkret' before becoming involved in film funding
in 1983. He was managing director of Hamburg's cultural film fund
(Hamburg Film Office) and then from 1988 as managing director of
the city's economic film fund (Hamburg Film Fund). The same year,
he was co-founder of EFDO (European Film Distribution Office) and
became the president of this European Organisation, a post he held
until EFDO's dissolution in 1996.
In 1992 he became executive
Director of Filmstiftung. Since then, he has lobbied for the film
region of North Rhine-Westphalia at home and abroad. Dieter kossslick
is a member of the European Film Academy(EFA) and a board member
of the European Film College, Ebeltof. He is a member of the board
and administrative council of the Federal German Film Board (FFA)
and chairman of the North Rhine-Westphalian training initiatives
Filmschule NRW, Schreibschule Cologne and AIM (Training in Media
Profession).
The producers meeting
will be chaired by Paul Donovan is an independent producer based
in Dublin. He set up Bandit Films with director Johnny Gogan. Bandit's
credits include feature The Last Bus Home (1993); The Bargain Shop
(57mins, 1992) and Stephan (19 mins, 1990). Feature projects currently
in production with Bandit include A Little Piece of Earth and Written
in Blood. Paul is a member of MEDIA Desk Ireland.
