Ken Loach is planning a film titled 'The Stolen Republic' based on the 1916 Rising. The film will deal with the events leading up to the 1916 rising from the screenplay by Jim Allen, the Marxist writer who also scripted Ken Loach's controversial Northern Ireland drama, 'Hidden Agenda' which was inspired by the John Stalker and Colin Wallace affairs. Rebbecca O'Brian who is producing the film has told Screen International that they have not yet determined a budget or started to raise finace but expects the film to be financed through pre sales. Location scouting will begin in June.
