October Eleven's 'Simon Marsden' Screening at IFC
25 Oct 2002 :
Doug Zwick, president of Los Angeles based Pop Twist Entertainment, Inc., and Jason Figgis, Managing Director of October Eleven Pictures of Dublin, announced today that the documentary feature, The Twilight Hour: Visions of Ireland’s Haunted Past will be screened at the Irish Film Centre in Dublin. Appropriately, the screening will take place on October 26, 2002 – the Halloween Weekend - as part of the Centre’s annual Horrorthon. A partial rough-cut of the film was screened at the Horrorthon a year ago to great acclaim.

Sales of the film were launched earlier this month by Pop Twist at MIPCOM, with the moody, gothic flick generating substantial international interest.

The film tracks Sir Simon Marsden, the world-renowned photographer of the haunted realm, as he collects images for his forthcoming book, The Twilight Hour. Marsden’s work is included in collections at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, and the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles. As with Marsden’s seven previous photographic collections, the book will be published by Little Brown. Release date for the book is set for October 2003.

The film was produced and directed by Jason Figgis. It is executive produced by Jonathan Figgis and Zwick. Original score is by Daniel Figgis. Sound Engineering was by Paddy Gibbons, while visual effects and post production was provided by Alan Foley.

Jason Figgis also shot the picture, using lighting design by himself and Simon Marsden. The result is cutting edge digital cinema that truly redefines the look of digital video. Figgis’ film captures the eerie moods encountered as he and Marsden intrude on Ireland’s most disturbing homes.

Zwick, a former senior programmer at the US Disney Channel where his projects won numerous Emmys and an Academy Award, will spearhead The Twilight Hour’s commercial release. In addition to television and home video release, Zwick is looking for selected festival exposure and potentially a specialized theatrical release in selected territories.

The Twilight Hour is a production of October Eleven Pictures, in association with Piranha Bar and Pop Twist Entertainment, Inc.

October Eleven Pictures' next feature film, the urban thriller 3Crosses, is currently in preparation, and is also represented by Pop Twist. Edgy and fast paced, it’s the violent story of the tempestuous relationship between three Polish-Irish brothers.
