Ronan and Rob Burke’s IFTA nominated short Jellybaby continues to do well on the festival circuit after picking up best short film at Cinegael, the Irish Film Festival in Montreal. In addition to this it was also announced last week that it won the award for Best Short Drama at the Celtic Film and Television Festival. This is the latest in a number of awards for the film this past month which began with it winning best comedy at the Golden Star Shorts Fest in Hollywood, and best short film at the Chlotrudis Film Festival in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Produced by John Wallace and written by Pierce Ryan, Jellybaby is a humourous story about a young couple driven demented by their newborn terror. The film stars rising acting talents Tadhg Murphy and Katie Kirby. Jellybaby was funded by Filmbase/RTE and the NIFTC.
The filmmakers hope their lucky streak will contiune in April with numerous screenings scheduled including the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival, Aspen Shorts Fest, San Francisco International Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival, Worldfest Houston, Athens Film and Video Festival in Ohio and Britspotting in Berlin.
