The Irish feature film ‘The Boys and Girl from County Clare’ will finally hit Irish cinemas on the 24th of March 2006.
Directed by John Irvin, the film stars Colm Meaney (Layer Cake, Intermission), Bernard Hill (The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers) and the IFTA nominated Irish singer/actress Andrea Corr. Charlotte Bradley (About Adam) excels in a supporting role, for which she won the Best Supporting Actress IFTA in November 2005.
Shot in Ireland during 2002, the film has endured a long journey to make it to the big screen at home. However, the film was a hit with audiences in the US and received a limited release in March 2005 following popular screenings at festivals in Seattle, New York, Colorado and Cleveland.
The story follows Jimmy McMahon (Meaney) and his group of musicians from Liverpool who enter a ceili competition in Ireland.
