Pierce Brosnan, Cillain Murphy and Liam Neeson have all received acting nominations for the 32nd Annual Saturn Awards, awards organised by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films.
Traditionally seen as a ceremony geared towards “movie geeks” and mainstream audiences, the Saturn Awards honour both film and television productions. Leading the feature nominations is George Lucas’ ‘Star Wars:Revenge of the Sith’ with ten nomination, followed by Christopher Nolan’s ‘Batman Begins’ with nine.
Brosnan has been shortlisted in the Best Actor category for his comedic turn in ‘The Matador’. The Irish actor is up against Christian Bale (Batman Begins), Hayden Christensen (Revenge of the Sith), Tom Cruise (War of The Worlds), Robert Downey Jr. (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) and Viggo Morensen (A History of Violence).
Both Liam Neeson and Cillian Murphy have been shortlisted for the Best Supporting Actor Award, for their roles in ‘Kinsey’ and ‘Red Eye’ respectively. William Hurt (A History of Violence), Val Kilmer (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), Ian McDiarmid (Revenge of the Sith) and Mickey Rourke (Sin City) also picked up nods in this category.
The awards will take place on May 2 in Universal City. For a full list of nominations visit http://www.saturnawards.org/
