‘Shrooms’ the latest feature from Irish director Paddy Breathnach (I Went Down, Man About Dog) is set to begin production this March. The horror flick penned by ‘Man About Dog’ writer Pearse Elliott will shoot for seven weeks in Ireland on locations around Monaghan. |
The film follows five American college students on a camping trip in Ireland. Alone in the woods, the students experiment with magic mushrooms and ghostly visions begin to appear that may, or may not, be real.
Confirmed cast includes Lindsey Haun (Alias, Malcom In The Middle) and newcomers Cameron Douglas and Jack Huston. Both actors are descendents of Hollywood royalty; the former is son of Michael and the latter is grandson of John and nephew of Anjelica.
Principal photography begins in late March with a seven week shoot planned. Mark Geraghty (Get Rich or Die Tryin’, In America) is Production Designer with Costumes by Rosie Hackett (Waking Ned, Blow Dry) and Dermot Diskin (The Mighty Celt, Man About Dog) on board as editor. DOP is yet to be confirmed.
The film will be produced by Treasure Entertainment’s Paddy McDonald and Robert Walpole (who both worked on Pearse Elliott’s directorial debut ‘The Mighty Celt), with Gail Egan (The Constant Gardener) as executive producer.
‘Shrooms’ is funded by the Irish Film Board, the Northern Ireland Film and Television Commission, Nordisk Film, and Ingenious Media. London-based Capitol Films will handle worldwide sales.
