Communications, Marine & Natural Resources Minister, Noel Dempsey, will officiate at the Launch of a new Development Phase for The Digital Hub this week inviting tenders for two prime mixed use sites in the Hub, located on Thomas Street in Dublin.
The site will be developed for mixed use including digital media enterprise space, retail space apartments and public spaces. The overall development will also include a learning building, which will be open to the local community, and used to deliver The Digital Hub's learning programmes.
According to Philip Flynn, Chief Executive Officer, Digital Hub Development Agency (DHDA), "we are delighted that Minister Dempsey is coming to launch this new development phase for The Digital Hub. Since taking over this department, the Minister has been hugely supportive of our project, and has taken a personal role in ensuring that the property side of the project is progressed.
Property is only one part of our project, and the delivery of the remaining seven acres of our development will allow us to continue to meet the needs or our growing enterprise cluster and to delivery cutting edge learning initiatives to local schools and community."
The Digital Hub is an Irish Government initiative to create an international centre of excellence for knowledge, innovation and creativity focused on digital content and technology enterprises. The core development of nine acres is located just ten minutes' walk from the city centre within the historic Liberties area of Dublin, in the oldest market area of the city which has been home to the Guinness brewery since 1759.
To date, two acres of The Digital Hub site have been developed. The tenders being launched on Wednesday are to develop the remaining seven acres.
