Trish Long Named Deputy GM Of BVI Ireland

Brendan McCaul, VP and General Manager of Buena Vista International (Ireland) has announced Trish Long’s promotion to Deputy General Manager of the distribution company.

Trish adds the title, Deputy GM, to the Director of Marketing and Publicity (which she has held

for 4 years). In making the announcement, McCaul said, “I am professionally and personally proud to announce that effective immediately, Trish Long is Deputy GM of BVI Ireland”. He added “Having worked with Trish for more than a decade, I truly believe she is the best possible person for this position. Her energy and enthusiasm is an inspiration to everyone, especially her colleagues.”

Trish has worked extensively for BVI in Ireland marketing Irish titles that include ‘Veronica Guerin’; ‘Reign of Fire’; ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’; ‘King Arthur’; ‘Intermission’; 2005’s Tara Road’ and she will head the promotion of forthcoming Irish feature ‘Studs’ in 2006.

Trish also is part of an international publicity team which works on European and International press, premiere and festival events worldwide. In this capacity, she has worked many International Film Festivals including Cannes, Venice, San Sebastian, Deauville and Berlin. She has handled press visits and tours of many actors including Bruce Willis; Harrison Ford; Sandra Bullock, Mel Gibson; Richard Gere; Nic Cage; Oprah Winfrey; Will Smith; Dennis Quaid; Arnold Schwarzenegger; Denzel Washington; Tom Hanks and Sean Connery plus many directors and producers including Ivan Reitman; Martin Scorsese; Gary Marshall and Norman Jewison.

Trish has a 1st class honours Masters in Cultural and Communication Studies from Dublin City University. She is a member of the Irish Film Institute board and is also part of the Advisory Committee of the Irish Film and Television Awards. Previously, Trish was the 1st Marketing and Publicity director of the Irish Film Centre. Before moving to Dublin she held the position of Publicity Manager at the Belltable Arts Centre in Limerick. Having begun her career in Independent Radio in Limerick (Big L), she later trained as a counsellor and ran the Limerick Rape Crisis Centre for four years. She also has a long history of involvement in women's issues at a national and local level.
