Galway based Telegael
Media Group has revealed plans to co-produce a second season of three of their
internationally successful animation series; ‘Tutenstein’, ‘Pet Alien’ and ‘Toddworld’.
The Emmy award winning series, ‘Tutenstein’,
|
tells the story of a ten-year-old boy mummy who is struck by lightning and brought back to life in a modern-day museum in a large metropolitan city. Series one was co-produced by Telegael in conjunction with Porchlight Entertainment (USA), NIC Entertainment (Korea), Discovery (USA), and won an Emmy award in 2004 for Outstanding Special Class Animated Programme. Season Two begins production in late 2005.
Series Two of ‘Pet Alien’ will begin production in early 2006 and will be co-produced, once again, by Telegael with Mike Young Productions (USA), John Doe Studios (USA), Antefilms (France) and Crest Animation (India). To date the series has been broadcast in worldwide territories including America, France and the UK. The ‘Pet Alien’ series tells the story of the mayhem which ensues when Aliens crash into the top of a lighthouse tower and make themselves at home. Unfortunately, the earth boy living there was none-too-keen on this house invasion…
Emmy nominated ‘Toddworld’ tells the adventures of artistic, offbeat six-year-old, Todd, and his friends, Pickle, Dot, Sophie, his dog Otto and cat Mitzi amongst a varied assortment of vibrantly colored animals plus an alien visitor or two. The series, which was adapted from the award winning books created by Todd Par, was nominated in 2005 for an Emmy award in the category of Outstanding Children’s Animated Programme. Series two of the popular series will begin production in the second half of 2006.
Confirmation of three further international co-productions marks the end of an extremely successful year for the Galway based production company. 2005 saw Telegael receive a second Emmy nomination and open a subsidiary company, ‘Zoogan’, in Belfast, which has received two commissions from the Irish Language Broadcast Fund, under the Northern Ireland Film and Television Commission.
The company has also recently received confirmation that it has been awarded a 2nd Stage Media Slate funding contract.
